Lay EPS insulation and cut out openings

Measure the insulation as an area, and take away the bits that are not to be there.

Foundations5 min7 steps
  1. 1

Draw the area the insulation lies on

Pick Area (“Yta”) and click round the slab, or Fill area (“Fyll yta”) and click inside a closed outline to have it found for you.

Worth knowing. The scale has to be set before Area (“Yta”) and Fill area (“Fyll yta”) can be used.

  2. 2

Pick EPS insulation (“Cellplast”) in the panel

With the area selected you pick EPS insulation (“Cellplast”) in the panel on the right. The fields then change to material, grade and thickness instead of depth in metres.

  3. 3

    Fill in grade and thickness

Pick the material, the grade and Thickness (“Tjocklek”). The quantity is counted as square metres of that particular product, not as a volume — that is how EPS insulation is ordered.

  4. 4

Press Cut out (“Skär ut”) to take a piece away

Find an opening in the slab — a lift shaft, a stairwell — and you click Cut out (“Skär ut”) on the row of the area in Drawn and measured (“Ritat och mätt”). Then drag a box over the opening.

Worth knowing. The tool stays put after each box, so several holes are taken out of the same area without you picking it again. Press Done (“Klar”) when you have finished.

  5. 5

Check that the area went down

The row in Drawn and measured (“Ritat och mätt”) shows how many cut-outs the area has, and the square metres are recalculated straight away. If the figure does not get smaller, the box landed outside the area.

  6. 6

Do not lay two cut-outs over each other

Overlapping cut-outs take the same area away twice, so the quantity comes out too low. A cut-out that overlaps another is therefore stopped before it is laid.

  7. 7

    Undo a cut-out

Ctrl+Z removes the last one, and on the row of the area there is the button that puts the last cut-out back.
