Measure a stirrup on the section drawing
Trace the legs of the stirrup on the section and save it with a name — the dimensions are taken once and hold for the whole job.

Set the scale on the section first
The dimensions are read off against the sheet the stirrup is drawn on, not against the plan. Measure stirrup (“Mät bygel”) is grey until the section has a scale of its own, and the tooltip says “Sätt skalan först.” (set the scale first).
Worth knowing. A section has its own scale and is calibrated on its own. That is the commonest reason for a stirrup coming out absurdly big or absurdly small.

Pick Measure stirrup (“Mät bygel”) in the tool rail
The tool only exists on a section drawing. On the plan the matching tool is called Stirrups (“Byglar”), and that one asks you for the dimensions instead of reading them off.

Trace the legs in the order a, b, c
Click along the stirrup on the section, one line per leg, in the order the bending schedule reads them. Hold Shift and the line locks straight — the legs nearly always meet at a right angle.

Finish when the last leg is traced
Double-click or press Enter. The lengths are read off against the section's own scale, rounded to whole millimetres, and the box Save the stirrup (“Spara bygeln”) opens.
Worth knowing. Nobody bends 302.7 mm. Whole millimetres are what a bending schedule is ordered in, so that is the dimension you get.

Pick Stirrup type (“Bygeltyp”) from the ones that fit
The box only offers the stirrup types that have exactly as many legs as you traced: three lines give C, four give K. The letter is the shape as the bending schedule names it.
Worth knowing. The shape is picked afterwards on purpose. You trace what the section shows and are told which bend it is, instead of deciding first and finding out on the last leg that it did not add up.

Trace it again if nothing fits
If it says that that many dimensions do not fit any stirrup type, you have traced the wrong number of lines. Undo and trace again with one line per leg: A has one, B and N two, C three, K four and L six.
Worth knowing. The tool deliberately does not guess. Four lines on a C is not a badly measured C — it is another shape or a slipped click, and a guess here is the wrong bar on the order.

Read off the dimensions and pick Diameter
Under Measured dimensions (“Uppmätta mått”) every leg stands with its letter and its millimetre figure, and Bar per stirrup (“Bar per bygel”) says how much steel one stirrup draws. Pick Diameter — ø6 to ø32 mm.
Worth knowing. An N is closed — a ring of the sides a and b — so its Bar per stirrup (“Bar per bygel”) is (a+b)×2 and not a+b. The other shapes are open bends.

Type a name and press Save (“Spara”)
In the box Name (“Namn”) you write what the stirrup is: Edge beam 300, Footing K1. Two stirrups cannot be called the same — the box then says the name already exists.
Worth knowing. The name is what you look for on the plan afterwards. Write where the stirrup sits, not which letter it has — the letter stands beside the name anyway.

Do not look for the stirrup here
The panel Saved measurements (“Sparade mått”) is only shown on the plan. On the section you measure; what you have saved turns up under the heading Stirrups (“Byglar”) when you go back to the foundation drawing.

Measure every stirrup the section shows while you are here
A section often shows two or three different stirrups. The list is saved with the project, so what you measure now is still there when you go back to the plan.

Correct a stirrup you measured wrong
Correct the dimensions on the saved stirrup and every place it has been put out changes with it. It is the same bargain as resetting the scale on a drawing: measure once, and everything that hangs on the measurement follows.
